吕永中

* 吕永中，“半木”的创始人及主设计师。教了很多年书，经营了很多年设计公司，游历过很多地方，得过很多奖，也走过很多路。他始终对中国传统文化心怀虔诚，并一次次将其运用到他的现代设计语汇中。“半木”创立两年，是吕永中将虔诚之心投入木料物事的一次探寻，“以木为聪”在他而言，不过是最简单阐述态度的方式。对于“木”材质的热爱，在他的身上更多似一种信仰。仿佛那些木料，从一开始就并非仅仅是木，而是生命某种安静的形态，是树的语言，是可以被倾听的灵魂。很久以前，或长久之后，你都依旧可以将他看作一个老师，一个经营者，一个空间设计师，或是一个东方文化研究者。但回到最初，他不过是热爱木之人，不过在做一些真正喜爱、并能令自己感动的事。 Mr. Lv Yongzhong is the founder and chief designer of BANMOO. He has also been a teacher, manager, and traveler along his life path. A wayfarer in both the metaphoric and literal sense, Mr. Lv has received many artistic awards throughout his life’s wandering journey. A common thread through these variegated experiences is Mr. Lv’s deep-rooted respect for traditional Chinese culture and the unique discourse he brings to the practice and expression of modern design.Since the establishment of BANMOO, Mr. Lv has devoted all his energy and effort into experimenting with wood as a basic design material. Mr. Lv’s belief in the powerful wisdom inherent within wood manifests in the tireless pursuit of transforming wood into erudite pieces of artwork and furniture. Ostensibly, wood is merely inanimate matter. However, Mr. Lv sees wood as a soulful entity: it speaks the language of a living tree; it holds a spirit that aches to be listened to.Despite holding various titles—teacher, manager, designer, researcher of Oriental culture—none of these labels truly describe Mr. Lv. At the essence, he is simply someone who loves using wood as a medium of expression. At the core of things, he believes that wood is capable of moving the human heart.
